(18th January, Beijing mean time) According to foreign media, Mobile industry analysts Sameer Singh noted that Apple company can produce cheap iPhone at a price low to $144 and sell the product at a price between $299 to $349, which is several hundred dollars lower than the existing model.
Mr. Singh said that cheap iPhone will be a major strategic conversion of the dominate high-price route of Apple, which means that Apple is aware of the fact that the actual develop opportunities will mainly from emerging markets. “I think the essential develop momentum of Apple will be the business in emerging markets.” Mr. Singh claimed in an e-mail on Tuesday.
On January 14th, Mr. Singh reckoned in his blog article that the cost for Apple to produce a cheap iPhone is $144.03. In contrast, the Market Research Company IHS iSuppli estimated that the most lowend iPhone 5 costs $207, which exposed that cheap iPhone will cut 30% off the iPhone product cost for Apple.
While estimating the cost for cheap iPhone, Mr. Singh assumed that cheap iPhone will deploy viewing screen of 3.5 inches, 8 GB memory capacity, the same processor and camera as iPad Mini and plastic shells instead of metal ones. Furthermore, it will support 4G LTE network.
Mr. Singh pointed out that Apple will not sacrifice profit rates while launching cheap iPhone. The price of a cheap iPhone will be from $299 to $349, with a profit from 52% to 63%, which is lower but close to 68% of iPhone 5.
Analysts said that Apple needs to launch cheap iPhone to effectively compete with SAMSUNG through attracting more potential customers and then further make it growth meet with the anticipation of Wall Street.
Mobile operators in most of the emerging markets, including China, are unwilling to pay large amounts of subsidies to Apple. Due to this reason, the sale of cheap iPhone will be much better in emerging markets.
Mr. Singh predicted that Apple will introduce cheap iPhone in Autumn after launching subsequent products of iPhone 5 like “ iPhone 5S” or “iPhone 6”.
